Top Ten R.C. Sproul Lectures
Posted by: | CommentsNow this looks interesting. I’ve always appreciated Dr. Sproul’s ministry and look forward to checking these out.
From the Ligonier Ministries blog: Top Ten R.C. Sproul Lectures
Here’s the introduction of the list from Robert Rothwell:
“One of the great joys of writing the daily studies for Tabletalk and performing various other editorial tasks is that I must regularly listen to the teaching series that Ligonier Ministries has produced. Recently, I was asked to list what I believe to be the top ten lectures from R.C. While others might disagree with what follows at certain points, this list represents what I have found to be the most important and useful messages that R.C. has ever delivered.”
Around the Blogosphere
Posted by: | CommentsSome good reading today:
Bearing One Another’s Burdens - John MacArthur from the Ligonier Ministries blog
” Our generation has developed an unhealthy obsession with entertainment; we are daily assaulted with a plethora of trivial diversions; and we tend to interact with one another in sound-bites or through faceless media. ”
Without Love, You’re Nothing - Andrew Lisi from the Gospel Coalition
Speaking of humanitarian aide and self-sacrifice Mr. Lisi asks “Do we do these things out of some sort of pressure, whether from the media, society, or even the church or are they done out of love? Are they done out of the love we know comes from God because he first loved us (1 John 4:19)? Without love, even our greatest sacrifices of time, talents, treasures and even self are like dust.”
Searching the Feeds: Discipleship
Posted by: | CommentsOne of my favorite research tools is Google Reader. If you read more than even a handful of blogs, then I would recommend giving it a try for managing your blog reading. One of the neat things you can do with it is search across all of your blog “feeds”, all the blogs you’re subscribed to. Once you accumulate enough trusted resources then it’s quite the cool thing to be able to search for keywords on only those blogs that are in your Google Reader.
I often search like this to simply stimulate good blog reading. I did that with the word “discipleship”. Here are some of the results.
Feed Search: Discipleship
Fight Clubs: Gospel-Centered Discipleship - Justin Taylor
A Pleasing Dilemma: Tim Tebow and the Cost of Discipleship - Jeff Robinson from the CBMW blog

Below is a short introduction to Google Reader.

Grief: Finding Hope Again
Posted by: | CommentsA very helpful resource from Paul Tripp for those grieving and also for those that have a heart to minister to the grieving.
Following is a description from the printed booklet version but you can read it online for free at the link above.
“This booklet has two main sections: first, what to think when death enters your door; and second, what to do. I realize that your loss is precious and unique, utterly unlike anyone else’s. My goal is not to squeeze you into a “one size fits all” mold. I do want to help you see how the great themes of God’s story speak with power to what you face in the death of a loved one. Only one Person can pick you up in your darkness and carry you into the light.”
Resolve to…
Posted by: | CommentsOne of the things that we hope to accomplish in the new year, Lord willing, is to contribute more consistently to this blog. We know that some of you may have been wondering if you would ever see anything posted on this blog again! Well, you will! (again Lord willing)
That will most often take the form of us sharing links and resources that we think will be relevant to men. So you may expect to see more content here and we pray it will be of some benefit to you.
Around this time of year (or anytime for that matter) it’s always interesting to read through the Resolutions of Jonathan Edwards.
Also, Donald Whitney’s “Ten Questions to Ask at the Start of a New Year or On Your Birthday” has been helpful to me over the years. I plan on reviewing it again in the coming days.

Praying for Your Wife
Posted by: | CommentsA book recommendation from Justin Taylor. (You would think the author of a book like this might be a husband who’s been married for many years…nope!)
